Will you respect me in the morning?

Francie My husband says that if I don't stop making these crazies then no one will respect me as a doll maker any more. He said 'you used to be a pretty good doll maker, now look at you...". Men. He just doesn't get it. I'm actually lucky I managed to pry myself away from the computer long enough to make this little sock monster! She has some scars on her back - socks aren't as forgiving as cotton! But she just thinks they are battle wounds. Do ya think I should tell my husband to ... 'put a sock in it?' ... groan ....

Cute! I love the bone through her head!!! I'm assuming you have a copy of Stupid Sock Creatures, then?

I have a few pictures from stupidcreatures.com in my Inspiration folder, with a promise to some day try his methods, but oh, how many things are on THAT list...

Erm, to some day try John Murphy's methods.... You'll have to forgive me. I'm recovering from a large margarita.

Woooohooooo! My girl is PLAYING! It's about time! You NEEDED to take a break & create! And you know I LOVE these crazy critters you make. This one is no exception. You tell Loren Kai said I love him, but HE'S the bonehead! LOL! Play some more, Jude!

Hi Judi, I am new to your blog. It is great to read the adventures of another doll artist. I say, tell hubby to put a sock in it! The monster is so cute! I think you would not be a good doll artist if you couldn't try different things to keep you fresh. I had so much fun with doing "not as good" dolls that I opened them their own shop separate from my art dolls! It actually did help inspire and re-energize me for my other work too.
I leave you with this, my mother-in-law was recently admiring the beautiful work of a illustrator when she said (not once, but twice!)... "If you made your dolls faces a pretty as her work, you would sell more of them."
Ouch!
I say keep playing and ignore your hubby!
Best wishes and Happy New Year!
:)

WOW Isn't she cute!!!!
What do husbands know! You think that they would be used to strange things by now!
At least it didn't have to be baked in the oven and smell like cookies!! LOL

I love it!! :o)

I'd say tell the hubby to put a sock up it, in it , and over it! Perhaps you could design a new creature and name it after him? ROFL!

Yes, tell hubby to put a sock in it (I regularly do!!). I think she is very special - especially with that tongue hanging out.

What a cute pink monster sock doll! Just yesterday I was at the bookstore and saw a book on making sock creatures! Your sock creature is much more creative than the ones I saw in the book.
