Ummm... the doll is coming out of hiding, not me! Remember this one? The crash test daughter doll? My daughter wants me to finish her so she can have it. I never did anything with it because I didn't like how high the eyes were - there's no forehead on this girl! I have to figure out how to make a top for her - this is just the band from the bottom of the skirt - I had made it and then shortened it. I am so clueless when it comes to pattern drafting for clothing, sigh. I really really need a class on how to do this.
hah! Today I wanted to use my machine...and I had to look for the booklet that tells me how to thread a bobbin....sigh.... wish I had learned how to sew as a kid.
I wonder if you pile up some of her "hair"...sort of in the middle of her head a bit..or put on a little hat or bow or something? it might detract from the eye placement...? although, I don't really think they look out of whack or anything...
Posted by: Veronica at February 23, 2009 6:04 PMYou know Jude, I WONDERED whatever happened to this doll! I'll be interested to see how you finish her.
Posted by: Kai at February 23, 2009 6:42 PMAbout time too. I meant to ask you sometime ago about this doll but never got round to it. Glad to know that you are going to finish her.
Posted by: shashi. at February 24, 2009 2:40 AMYay, she's looking great! The bruises are pretty doggone authentic looking. I always wondered whatever happened to this doll. I thought it was such an interesting subject to make. Of course enough time has passed that I'd imagine both you and your daughter can joke a bit about the originating accident. Will the doll be in a car or just have a steering wheel (and perhaps torn off steering column)?

I thknk she looks great nice looking legs and shoes. Her face is ok as is I think. As for clothes just cut pieces out and stitch them to the doll easy peasy. I think the way you show her here is a pretty good costume.

I 2nd that class idea and I think your crash test daughter doll is cute. Doesn't look like she has been in any crashes. LOL
