I got a lovely letter from Romona the other day asking where my blog had gone. I made some excuse about not having time or the inclination to create and she told me to set aside at least one hour a day for my art. So I will try that! I spend entirely too much time playing computer games and just web surfing - I need to cut that out! So yesterday I sat down and finished off the bookmarks I had started for my nieces and nephew. I was surprised that they photographed as well as they did since they are encased in heavy plastic. I use the self laminating pouches from Scotch and the reason I sew around them (besides the fact that I just plain like the way it looks) is that they barely fit two to a pouch and when I cut them out the glue doesn't hold. These bookmarks are way sturdier than the ones you can buy in the stores, I use some myself! I figured my nephew wouldn't want a little girl so I collaged one for him. We'll see how well I manage to stick to the hour for art a day!
Good on ya Judi, I was so happy to see that you were able to run with my advice and get back to what you do so well. The bookmarks are awesome, great job.... the one hour a day rule is very easy to do, just takes a bit of discipline.... ;o))) Romona

Posted by: shashi nayagam at July 19, 2010 2:56 AMBoy, have I EVER missed your creative endeavors, Jude! Seriously! I think LOTS of us were always inspired by how truly prolific you were in creating so many things! These are great! (Your nephew is going to love that naughty tongue sticking out photo!) If I can stick to my 2 weeks with no emailing except for necessity-mailings, YOU can create for an hour a day! Go, go, GOOOOOOOO!
Posted by: Kai at July 19, 2010 2:45 PMJudi - these are GORGEOUS!!!
I love the whimsical drawings - they are so precious.
I love what you're doing on your other project with masking off grids too - that technique is wonderful in many different applications - I have been thinking more and more about grids and mosaics lately with fiber art.
I'm so happy you're still creating!
Your talent is too amazing to just let slide on by...*YOU* inspired me after all this time to get going again....it was knowing there were kindred spirits out there that helped me find my way back to the creative life.
Thank you for all your comments on my blog - they always make me very very happy! : )
