I have a nasty cold and I just don't feel like doing a thing except hibernating! I find that my concentration just isn't there when I don't feel good. But that said, I finally got the clock in my studio caught up to daylight savings time this morning (yeah, shows how much I've been in there lately) and got to thinking that it needs a makeover. It's just boring wood. I think I could probably handle that in this state! Just have to decide on what color it needs to start out as!
I also realized I haven't made a doll yet this year. Pretty strange.
I told you I'd post a photo of the necklace I'm workin on in Christi Friesen's class on Doll Street ... here it is .. BUT .. as I worked this piece further I found that the green clay I started with had lost it's plasticizers and the leaves kept breaking/crumbling. So I am going to have to start over with fresh clay.

I hope you feel better soon. It's a bummer about the clay not working. The piece is lovely even with crumbly clay..

Posted by: Susan Sawatzky at March 12, 2008 3:29 PMI hear you on not being motivated. My sleeping schedule is severely messed up, and if I'm not struggling to get to sleep, then I'm struggling to stay awake, and I have this neverending exhaustion that feels like it's soaked into my bones. I have just enough energy to check email, and then I'm so tempted to just crawl back into bed.
Hope you feel better! And get started on a new doll when you can! I'll start on one too and we can make one together!
Many hugs!

Susan's comment made me laugh. I think that that is a good idea. It is a lovely necklace. To bad the clay is icky. It might look wonderful on the clock!
The necklace is looking beautiful even if the clay is a bit iffy. I thought that you were making this for the clock like the others.
Perhaps you should do something like this for the clock. Hope you start feeling better soon.
Jude, that's really gorgeous! Have you tried adding some liquid clay to the green to see if that helps? If not, I'd agree - put it on the clock! Way too pretty to TOSS! (And feel better!)
Posted by: Kai at March 13, 2008 8:53 AMlove the polymer flowers.. i could make that into a cool necklace :-) can't wait to see what you do with it..
Posted by: Courtney P at March 13, 2008 2:31 PMThe necklace is beautiful, great work!! I think Kai is right about the liquid clay, I do that sometimes to bond fresh clay to baked.
Also I have been down with this cold for about 9 days now, I know what you mean about not being motivated, hope you feel better much sooner then what it's taking me.
The crumbly does not show!! I love the colors you used. I have found that putting crumbly clay in a plastic bad and sitting on it...yes...just pretend you are a little red hen hatching an egg, this will soften it up and help get rid of the crumblies...oh and then run it though the posta machine while still in the bag...worth a try. Get well soon. I just got over the flu...bad bad bug.
Posted by: Auntie Linda at March 13, 2008 5:12 PMFeel better soon. It sounds like the Leap Year Blahs are going around.
And I really like the necklace; it's beautiful.
Posted by: Zhenia at March 14, 2008 8:58 AMIt's beautiful Judi! I hope you've saved it! And I hope that nasty cold is better by now.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work from Christie's class.
Such a gorgeous piece - too bad about the leaves. I'm sure the next one will be great too!!
Posted by: Dianne at March 19, 2008 2:51 AMWhat a shame -- your beginning is lovely! I'm starting over too because my first one is SO BIG. I'm glad you got Christi at Doll Street. I am loving the class.
Hi Judy
I Had a look at your work today I think it's fantastic, I love those dolls, may be one day when I get brave enough I can take one of you class. Keep up the good dolly work
