I picked up my new sewing machine tonight, yay! I bought a Bernina Aurora 440QE. QE stands for quilting edition - it has a few extra quilting stitches and comes with a couple of quilting feet. The main reason I bought it was because I wanted the new Bernina Stitch Regulator. It's a foot with a sensor that measures how fast you are moving your fabric when you're doing free motion embroidery and it compensates for stitch length. So your stitches should be fairly even, which mine aren't when I do this on my own. Mine are microscopic! I also wanted to be able to use the Needle Felting attachment and my current machine has the wrong kind of bobbin race (you know, the thingy you put in bobbin in). So now I can try that too. Oh boy, oh boy. I can't wait for tomorrow so I can unpack it and play, play, play.
Hmmm ... quilting feet, huh? I don't exactly know what that IS, but in MY sewing machine illiterate mind, it would HAVE to mean that sewing machine has the ability to get up by itself and run across my quilting because I wouldn't have the foggiest how to direct it there. Heeheehee ... Your new 'toy' sounds delightful (to ME, scary - remember, I am still delaying setting up my scanner) and I know you will do even more gorgeous things with it. Now - expect a BIG old email in your box in a little while. Be careful what you ASK for, my good friend. I WILL deliver! Extra big hugs!
Posted by: kai at May 19, 2005 10:38 AMI need to keep a calculator by the computer as I keep getting the math problems wrong then they tell me to do it again. I've never had a problem with math but simple addition seems to be beyond my skills lately. Anyway congrats on your new machine. i want one too.
Posted by: maryellen at May 19, 2005 9:45 PMHi Judi,
I'm dying to know how you like your new Aurora. I have a Bernina 170QE and am thinking about trading it in on the Aurora. We fulltime in an RV, and I had to give up my longarm. That stitch regulator is really got me excited. Curious on it's embroidery capabilities?
Love to hear back from you.

Oooh! I LOVE my new Bernina Aurora QE!!! I posted all about it. The stitch regulator was the dealmaker for me! I haven't tried the needlefelting foot yet but have ran that regulator ragged! Congratulations! You will LOVE it! I love your dolls and blog!
