My first doll

Kai posted a photo of her childhood doll so I thought I'd do the same. I've had this doll since I was 2 or 3 - somewhere there are photos of me with her. She is probably close to 50 years old now (if you include manufacturing time and time on the store shelf). When we moved to America in 1963 the bag with all my toys was stolen from the dock in New York. She was the only toy that didn't get stolen because I was holding her. She wears a dress my late grandmother knitted and a mob cap that I bought in Williamsburg, Virginia when I was about 10. She is discolored, drawn on by cousins with markers, and one eye doesn't work anymore but I still love her. Post your childhood doll at your blog or picture site and leave a comment with the link to it.

Goodness! Your doll is DEFINITELY in better shape than my poor old bear. She's really a PRETTY doll! What a cool idea to have everyone who still has a childhood toy post it! It'll be fun to see who does! Glad YOU did!

I remember that doll! I can't believe you still have it. I seem to recall I had a golden brown stuffed bear that was my constant companion as a little one, but I also have a memory of having a limb torn off and it being thrown away. :-(

How wonderful that you have a doll from your childhood. All my dolls were lost when our house burned to the ground when I was about 11. I didn't have any more dolls until just recently when I got involved in doll making.

I don't have my dolls from childhood. My mum gave them away once I got married. She said they reminded her too much of me so she gave them away dugh!

Judi,
It's so nice that you have your first doll. I wish I had mine. I do have a little porcelain doll that I had when I was a kid.

By the way --- I kinda peeked at my RR Doll. ROFL!!! Did you think I could stay out??? teeheehee!! I LOVE what you did. I can't wait to see her finished.

what is her name?

Good question, Mark. I have absolutely no idea if I ever gave her a name. I'm going to have to ask my Mom if she remembers one.

I can see why you love your beautiful doll. So glad you had her with you :) That's a lovely dress too. She looks very sweet and clean in spite of her hard life .

I'm inspired. We're moving soon so everything is in boxes. But when I unpack I'm going to take photos of my childhood dolls!
