Doll stands

I'm sure this isn't new to you but I think it's pretty neat. My friend Shirley had bought some candleholders to use as doll stands and they looked really nice. So when I was wandering around the store today looking for presents I found a couple on the clearance shelves.

What's nice about these is that they don't have that little spike in the center that holds the candle on it. Bumble's not the type to have a stick up his butt, LOL. Shirley makes little pillows for her dolls to sit on - just a circle of material gathered lightly with some fiberfill inside. I don't need to do that with this one as the candle holder is pretty flat. I will with the other one though - it's pretty well cupped. You could really embellish this with drop crystals and things. I imagine you could cover it with clay and make it look like some strange tree too. Lots of ideas. Too bad it was the only one they had in this style.

Oh! He's so CUTE! When did you make him? And I like the idea of using a candle stand. Hmmm - Hobby Lobby should be having their GOOD sales soon! Maybe I will find some! You always do the most clever things!

Its a great idea. I too looked for these stands but they all seem to have those pointed things in the middle. Must look out for stands this time when I am in India. Perhaps they will not have the pointy things in the middle over there. I don't think I have seen Bumbles before. Did you make him now. Is he going to enter the Wackey Fairy challenge?. He does look like he would like to . He is really lovely.

Shashi - I made him last winter. You might remember the photos of the trolls at the bar.

Great idea using those type of candle sticks for dolls. On the ones that have the metal stick, could those be cut off some how?

Betty - great idea! You could use a Dremel tool with a cutting tip. That would probably be the easiest thing as some of the bases can be pretty cupped.

I love the idea of using these for doll stands. I have three of them I found at the dollar store. The Dollar Tree is also a great place to find doll "stuff". Thank you for sharing.
