My new office has huge 5 foot square windows with a lovely 12 inch deep windowsill. I love the view but the office is small and there is only room for one guest chair. One window is on the south side so I can’t put plants in it – they would die from the heat. One is behind me and I’ve filled that with files. I’ve noticed that when people come to talk to me sometimes they sit on the windowsill on the south side of the office. So I decided to make a window seat. Now, I’ve never made one of those fancy cushions with the piping and gussets and all before. So what am I attempting? A five foot long cushion instead of a little one. Luckily there are some really good tutorials online. So far I’ve made my piping (my bias strips didn’t come out so great but I got enough to be usable) and I’ve covered the foam in batting and made the muslin cover. That’s the picture above. I have actually sewn the piping to the top and next is sewing the piping onto the bottom. Then I’m going to have to put a huge zipper in the gusset. I don’t do zippers. I have no idea why I am doing this, lol, other than I envision this beautiful lime green window seat in my office. We’ll see what the results are in a week or two! Wish me luck!!!!!
