Class is over :<

You don't realize just how much energy you expend when you spend three days in classes. After all, all you do is sit, you listen, and then you create. But it's draining. We finished class early because Barbara realized everyone was getting tired. After I got home I had some supper, sat down to relax and promptly fell asleep. I didn't even unload all my stuff from my car. The doll isn't done but she's within a couple of hours of being finished. This photo shows how much I've got done.

She nearly had arms but I had a couple of blow outs. I am so used to using a high thread count or a batik that I must have trimmed my seam allowance too close on the material I'm using and it didn't stand up to stuffing. I never had a forearm blow before so that was surprising. So I still need to make another pair of arms, wrap her head in ribbon (this is temporary) and attach her tassel, a little bit of embellishing, and she'll be done.

Oooo - I am absolutely DROOLING over this doll, Judi! She doesn't even NEED arms to be lovely. I'm serious. I love everything about her! I thought the fabric was beautiful BEFORE it was an outfit. But now that I see it as her attire, I am in awe that you were able to visualize how it would look and put it together. The effect is RICH. I LOVE that color combo! Because I work in yarns so much, I can look in a shop and imagine various yarns made into garments. But I'm a novice with fabric. I SEE beautiful material, yet still can't begin to visualize it as anything other than what it is - fabric. YOU are OBVIOUSLY no novice, my friend! If you ever put her up for sell, I want first chance at her!!!! I'd say your weekend was a SUCCESS! Hugs!

Her face looks so much more delicate now that you have painted it. I love the curve of her mouth. What kind of clay did you use for her face?

Wow, rock on!! I had my doubts when I saw the purple and orange swatches (I loathe orange) but what you have done is to die for! I envy you your artistic vision - your doll is wonderful.
