Book it!

Okay - this is kind of silly but thought I'd do it anyway. Found this on Teri Springer's site ...

Book It!

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you

I'm reading Black Wind, a Dirk Pitt novel, by Clive Cussler ... here's my sentence:
Always turning heads as it roared by, the vessel was an admired fixture on the Han River in and about Seoul.

Speaking of Clive Cussler .. guess the movie Sahara is based on one of his Dirk Pitt novels and I've been hearing really good reviews on it. I'll have to see if my girlfriend wants to go see it - as my husband doesn't do movies!

I just grabbed the "Granta" that's sitting near me and page 123 is, sadly, just a title page. It says:

Granta
Lily
Ian McEwan

That's it. I'll have to try with a different book.

"... teeth visible, yellow and sharp. A collar of wet blood..."

Hello Judi, This is cousin Steven from New Jersey. I am Phil Clarkson, Sara's Husbands youndest brother. I like the 123 page idea. The book is The Cabinet of Curiosities. By Douglas Prerston and Lincoln Child. Fifth Sentence read as follows.
The closest bum took the twenty and the pair rose to their feet with histrionic groans and sniffles.
By the way love the Dolls. Also am a big Clive Cussler fan, love Dirt Pitt. Welcome to the family.

She would gaze at me with sorrow and pitty in her eyes.

from See Under: Love by David Grossman
so many more interesting sentences in this book. But surely this is fodder for a great writing exercise... You might want to read the book too-- great look into man-fish doll possibilities & humanizing the unimaginably inhuman.

I liked the idea, what I got was:

And with what will you pay me?
