One of my friends who I sew with on Sundays called me today ... she was all excited ... her altered Bendi doll was one of 17 picked to be featured in the summer Art Doll Quarterly. It was fun to hear the happiness in her voice ... I had a big grin on my face as I listened to her. Guess the magazine hit the quilt store today and there it was ... sharing a page with another doll. It's a thrill to be published and I'm really happy for her! So look for Susan from Fairbanks' doll when you get your copy!
If I'm lucky my subscription copy will get here in about a month ... sigh.
Hey, Judi! I bet I'll see YOUR work in Art Doll Quarterly before long. Heck, you never know - might see my OWN stuff in there someday. (Yeah, right!) Sounds like you love that magazine as much as I do! I can barely wait for the new issue! Talk to you later. Oh, yeah - any suggestions for good doll groups to join? Kai (Who else is this talkative at 5;54 a.m.?)
Posted by: kai at April 22, 2005 11:55 AMHey Kai - I actually did send one doll to ADQ - over a year and a half ago. They kept the doll for 9 months and I finally had to go to California and get it back myself! Okay - so I was actually visiting my folks and they happen to live around the corner from the magazine's office - but it sounds better the other way! They took photos and kept telling me it will be in this issue or that issue. I've yet to see it .. and may never. But the doll is home safe and sound and that's what counts!
Posted by: Judi at April 23, 2005 9:08 PMI used to love the magazine 'Victoria' and I still have most of the issues I bought (I now use them for paper arts). I thought it would be a brilliant idea to get a subscription to save me running down to Chapters every month.... I even had the hazy idea that because I had a subscription I might even receive the magazine before it hit the stands. Well, silly me. I have two copies of several of the magazines because I couldn't wait for the bloody post office and went in a bought it at the store anyway. Go figure.
It seems to take ages for the mags to get to Canada. Patti Culea was talking about the new issue of 'Cloth Paper Scissors' at least three weeks before the store called me to say that it was in.

How exciting. I love the mag too. Finally got Michaels around here to carry them.
I have been working on an original Elf pattern. Got the first one made and I love him. Now to work a few tweaks.
