I needed to make three art magnets for a swap I'm in. They all have to go to the same person so I had to really think to make them different. Have you noticed how everyone is making the same kind of art lately? Vintage photos of people with butterfly wings and party hats? They all look great but they are getting old. I love using the vintage photos too but I'm trying to find a different way to do it.
The first magnet is a business card magnet. Kind of blah - but I found out that you can use your paper punches on them - notice the corners. Just had to turn the punch upside down and lean on it.
This magnet was a horrible orange and fuscia wooden frame from Michaels. I repainted it and did the swirlies and dots with Sharpies. The wings were a pain in the butt to attach.
This last one is a laminate sample which I painted and sprinkled with embossing powder (that's the red pebbly looking stuff). I cut out some hearts from cardstock and painted and embossed them. They are 3-D as they are raised from the surface with foam squares. Then some wire and beads were added.
Nothing special but at least each piece is different.
Judi, you read my mind! I have also noticed how much of the altered art stuff is looking alike. I love what you did with these magnets- original, creative and interesting. I love them all!

I have had the same thoughts about the hats -n wings thing too -- it was interesting the first time or 2, but when they get around to printing the elements for the mass craft market... it's not art to me any more. Your swap partner should LOVE these --I like the red one!

these are to pretty to be just magnets- they are bootifuls!!! I really love the treatments you have used and how tey turned out- I really does!!- I cant even say which one I love most cos I loves them all absolutly all clebber lady !!!
Where's the BLOOD? No BLOOD? Bwa-ha-ha! Just kidding! I will jump on that 'things beginning to look alike' bandwagon! But I NEVER think YOUR art has a mass-produced look! It's always one-of-a-kind and classy! All 3 of these magnets are ORIGINAL & COOL! My fave is the winged one. Funny - I worked on 8 magnets yesterday. Just for FUN! Not finished - but by today I should be. Yours are much better. Maybe I won't show mine after all. Hmmm! LOL!

I could have swore I comment on the magnets but I am aging haha so I will say this again..all three are wonderful!! The hearts are so unique, you have such a creative mind..
